New Renewal Rules for Z Endorsement (Effective September 1, 2023)
The biggest recent change is how Z endorsements are renewed:
Starting September 1, 2023, holders of a Z endorsement are no longer required to write a formal knowledge test for renewal.
Instead, you must complete an approved online air brake learning module before going to a DriveTest centre to renew your licence.
After finishing the module, you must download or print your Certificate of Completion and bring it and your licence to the DriveTest centre or a Driver Certification Program organization. Ontario
This change was introduced to make the renewal process more accessible and efficient. Private Fleet Info
Renewal Frequency and Special Conditions
For most drivers under 80 years old, licence and Z endorsement renewal is required every five years. Ontario
If you are 80 or older, you must complete the online learning module and practical test every year in order to renew the Z endorsement. Ontario
